Open Dynamic Audio: a middleware for dynamic audio in digital games
Presenter: Wilson Kazuo Mizutani
In games, a common strategy to provide a more engaging player expericence is to allow the game’s soundtrack to react, in real-time, to the happenings inside the virtual universe, since that provides a complementary interaction to the user beyond the conventional expression through visual aspects. However, given the non-linearity of this audiovisual media, many challenges of artistic, practical and technological order arise from this dynamic approach. In this work, we look for a middleware solution capable of mitigating such complexities, specially having composers and sound designers in mind as final users.<p>
